Recommended Resources
Getting started for anything when it comes to education, finances and careers is always tough and can seem like a daunting task. So, I wanted to compile a list of resources that I think will be beneficial to you for whatever task you want to accomplish. Life Insurance
First things, first: life insurance. If you don’t have life insurance, then make sure you get a term life policy through Haven Life Insurance or Health IQ. Protect the ones you love and care about while you’re on your path to financial independence. Habesha Finance teaches to have a term life insurance policy in place as you save, invest and build wealth for the future. Shop between the two sites and you’ll definitely get a great deal. Don’t delay! For more information about life insurance check out this post I wrote about…life insurance.
Personal Finance Tools
Budgeting
We all need to budget. There is no way around this. As professionals we have to be responsible and disciplined with how we manage our money. I personally believe a budget is the most significant tool to help you win with your money.
In this course you will find an amazing budgeting tool that will help keep you organized and effective as you build wealth. There are some apps out there for budgeting like Every Dollar, Goodbudget and Mint (in order of my preference). Overall, I still prefer this Google Sheets budgeting method. Get started below!
Debt Payment Tool
To help you get out of debt as fast as possible I’ve included a really great FREE debt payment tool below (thank you Vertex42.com). Test it out and plug in some of your numbers and see what’s possible with the debt you have. There’s also a second tab to help you project your payments and the flow of the debt snowball.Debt Reduction Calculator (Click “Make a Copy) – Subscribe for Access
Personal Capital – Net Worth Tacker
Personal Capital is an important part of the way I manage my net worth. They provide really awesome tools to manage your wealth and track your progress to financial independence. I really like the layout of the website and the app that’s available. Best of all you can sign up for a free account and have all your financial information in one place to review.
Financial Calculators
Here are some calculators below that I created to help you on your path to financial independence.
My 187 rule calculator is simple to use. Multiply a monthly expense you have by 187. The amount calculated is what you could potentially earn in 10 years if you invest that same amount monthly in a low cost S&P 500 Index Fund.
So you want to know how much a $1 will be 20 years from now or 30 years from now if you invested it. Check out this cool calculator to do just that!
