Welcome to the Habesha Finance Google Sheets budget course.

Congratulations on taking the first steps to making what I believe is one of the most important decisions you can make with your money: budget it!

As I’ve mentioned we all need to budget. There is no way around this. We have to be responsible and disciplined with how we manage our money. I personally believe a budget is the most significant tool to help you win with your money.

If you haven’t downloaded the Google Sheets budget template then you can do that in the free link below. You will find an amazing budgeting tool that will help keep you organized and effective as you build wealth. This is what my wife and I have been using to budget ourselves out of debt and to financial freedom since early 2017.

There are some apps out there for budgeting like Every Dollar, Goodbudget and Mint (in order of my preference). Overall, I still prefer this Google Sheets budgeting method.

Words of wisdom when it comes to budgeting:

  • Make sure you have a WRITTEN budget and not one in your head. This will take time and effort, but you need this for your foundation of success.
  • My next recommendation is that you DO NOT connect your bank information to the app or software. I want you to manually input every transaction so you stay aware and in control of the flow of your money all the time.
  • Accept the fact this may take several months to master. My wife and I took about 3 months before we felt comfortable and even many months later we’re still learning and continuing to optimize our budget.

As always, reach out if you need help setting up a budget and I’ll be happy to assist you! Feel free to comment or ask your questions below.
